We are a collective of front-line workers and allies from Mexico who fought the pandemic.

We rallied around Excel Hospital in Tijuana and built the first respiratory triage center in Mexico by mid-February 2020. This institution became the epicenter for saving lives in our city.

In those early days when the nomenclature was still “2019 novel coronavirus,” the little information that existed was being earned the hard way by our medical classmates in Europe, Seattle, San Francisco, and New York. We aggregated, translated, and dispersed the experiences of these colleagues who, even while being inundated, rallied to create protocols that we carried to Latin America.

We took to the airwaves and the internet to pass on the rapidly evolving experiences of health workers and medical institutions to other health workers and medical institutions.For that purpose, we created TJERUS.com

Get them while they’re hot. Just like those made in front of you at Las Ahumaderas, a late-night street taco destination of side-by-side Tijuana taco vendors that Anthony Bordain called “Taco Alley.”
Anthony Bourdain once famously said ….and I quote…. “The best restaurant in San Diego is……in Tijuana.”

Our collection has tacos! (can I use vulgarity here?)
It has burritos! (i kinda want to use vulgarity here)
And it has 1 of 1 classic Mexican Dishes! The dishes you crave.

Get ready for a tortillaso. “Tortillaso” is what my sister used to yell when she hit me in the face with a tortilla.

The Story

Chapter 1

When doctors get hungry after a long stretch on the wards, emergency room, or operating room, they wander across the street in search of taco stands. These taco stands are renowned for being delicious but also notorious for enacting biological revenge.

The longevity of this practice is peculiar as there is a Mexican saying that goes
a person will go back to their ex multiple times, but never to a stand with a bad taco.

It seems this lesson is only ever really learned through first-hand experience and that the only effective teacher is life.

There is an incident that gets retold were eight medical students got sick all at once.
“But they were so delicious” they murmured as they hugged their stomachs and rocked on their gurneys.

Even today, if you look out from the 20th floor of the Medical Center towers with city views in all directions, and you happen to look down, you will likely spot a white coat heading to the taco stands to roll the dice.

This is starting to sound like the opening to the Big Lebowski, but man those tacos are delicious and the aroma from the grill is a siren’s call that can’t be resisted.

Chapter 2

Our TACO Collection consists of tacos, burritos, and even special Mexican dishes.

The tacos include:

In the condiments bar, you can find guacamole, lettuce, and pico de gallo.

And don’t you worry, there is defiantly hot sauce.

may or may not be bad!

Maybe you should know better, maybe you shouldn’t eat them, but deep down inside you know that the road is long, and the flesh is weak and one day you will give in to your tastiest angels.
